Less Manifestation, More Creation
Jan 24, 2025
What are you manifesting this year?
This month?
Today?
Have you gotten really clear?
Have you made your vision board?
I hope so.
But I also hope that you go a few steps further than that and see it all the way through.
Nowadays the word "manifesting" is thrown around like a pipe dream. It's a beautiful word that's become muddled in esoteric, wishful thinking. It's almost been reduced to a magical idea that is so outrageous and far away that we scoff internally at ourselves for even saying we want something because we don't fully believe we could ever receive it.
"Manifestation" culture has gotten mixed up with making a vision board one time at a workshop and then going right back to doing and being who we were before while those pretty pictures sit and collect dust.
Tell me though...
What do you most desire to manifest in your life right now?
Say it out loud.
I'd like to offer you another word: CREATION.
Close your eyes and tell me how it feels in your body when you say; "I'm manifesting that (insert your thing here)"
Now, tell me how it feels to say, "I'm creating that (again, insert your thing)"
What and where does that feel like for you?
Often, "manifesting" feelings can take us to a place that's a bit more whimsical and wishy washy, like a dream that is disconnected from our bodies.
Often, "creating" feels more contextual, tangible and actionable anchoring us in the back body and solidifying us down into our roots.
Well, the cold truth is that we (you and I) are always, at all times, in every thought and in every breath co-creating with Source. Source can be whatever you like to call it; God, Goddess, Divine, Great Spirit, the Quantum. But that interconnected current of energy is always plugged into us, responding to however we're vibrating internally and organising a continuing future current of opportunities and experiences to match.
But you already know that.
What less of us know, is what to do AFTER we've come to terms with our inner dialogue, thoughts, feelings, emotions and memories. As you know, the subconscious is actually where we are manifesting from. Even though there was that one time on the weekend when we declared to the universe that we want something else, it's not a tick box type deal. Our declaration needs to be constant and consistent because that's how often the universe is listening. Plus, The Universe doesn't do mixed messaging, so she'll give us whatever we're saying on the deepest level within ourselves.
So how do we step into our full creatorship?
What does it look like to hone our ability to co-create with the universe at will?
Phase One: Desire
Making our vision board is a power move, for sure. I highly recommend it if it helps you to clearly see what you want and how it feels to have it. Getting really clear on our desires is the first step but where the wheels fall off is the next day when we don't back it up with behaviours and consistency. Desire is the level of our consciousness where we shift from stagnation into action. When we have no desire we are apathetic, often limp and devoid of purpose and motivation. I've worked with people who genuinely don't desire anything in life. This is deeply concerning and these individuals often have a very dismal outlook on what life has in store for them. On the opposite side of that same coin, desire can be a slippery slope into a cycle of craving and continuous wanting and therefore “not having”. So we can use it to tip the scales into momentum, but then we need to swiftly move on. Getting stuck here is the pattern that I see most often.
So, what do you most desire creating in your life right now? What do you want?
*Journaling, vision boarding, meditating, talking to a loved one all can be really useful steps here to hone and refine your desires so they're laser sharp. The more specific, the better.
Phase Two: Courage
The moment we muster enough courage to take that first, big, out of our comfort zone step is the moment where we tip the scales into personal power move towards who we are becoming. Our big ideas become actions. What we say we want is now followed up by what we're doing to get it. We are no longer crippled by our "what ifs" and our fears and the judgements of others and ourselves. We can name our insecurities and wounds, but we can now move ahead alongside them. People often call this step "Fake it until you make it"... but nothing here is fake so I invite you to remove that language if you use it. Instead think of it as "I'm no longer waiting, I will act and feel that way now". This piece is the part where you have to create a new identity. Sometimes that means walking away from old habits, old places, old people and walking forward into the unknown... which is exactly why it takes an obscene amount of courage.
See the version of you that already HAS what you are going to create. How does that version of you look, feel, act. What does that version buy, have and give? Go do it. Make it a practice to see this vision clearly and feel this every day. Make it a lifestyle to act this way, right now.
Phase Three: Willingness
Willingness is somewhere in the same current of “motivation”, drive, desire, want, etc. Except the calibration and the energy of will is much higher and will sustain us for longer than motivation or desire.
Willingness is the gateway to higher levels of consciousness. If courage prompts that first step forward, our willingness allows us to see it through even when it's wobbly and messy and terrifying. If courage is taking the leap of faith, willingness is the grit to see it through to the landing. Anatomically, our will lives in our spinal structure. It’s quite literally our backbone in life that props us up and gives us the support to carry on. When our will is weak, our lifeforce is low, motivation is low, desire is low, stress is high, overwhelm is high aaaaand we so often see spinal pain and issues show up to match.
Be willing to let things go. Past addictions, people, things, clutter in your home, old clothes, anything that doesn't fit who you're becoming. Be willing to forgive it all, including all the past versions of yourself. Be willing to increase your ability when you hit roadblocks that feel hard. Be willing to create new rituals, habits and behaviours that match who you're becoming.
Be willing to create structure, systems and support that take out the guesswork and carry you with more ease and less force.
Be willing to be powerful and keep showing up.
Start running towards your pleasure, no matter how many times you stumble... find something small that makes you feel good. Say "thank you" to it and wrap your arms around those currents of gratitude. Soon, you'll know yourself as someone trusts themself. Someone who does what they said they were going to do, who feels the way they want to feel and who has everything they always wanted to have.
You are a creator and in every moment you are creating your world.
So go make it beautiful.
